Although stars like Jadeveon Clowney and Johnny Manziel won’t be gracing us with their presence in the 2014 college football season, plenty of other very talented players will be showing off their skills every Saturday. There are clearly other great players in college football, but let’s take a look at 10 players to watch out for in the upcoming season.

When it comes to good running backs, it seems like Alabama never skips a beat. In two seasons with the Crimson Tide, T.J. Yeldon has 2,343 yards and 26 touchdowns.

Leonard Williams may not play running back or quarterback, but he is more than worthy for this list. The defensive end will be a fun watch every single time he steps foot on the field in 2014-15.

8. CB Ifo Ekpre-Olomu, Oregon

The Oregon Ducks are going to be very good once again. Although a teammate of Ifo Ekpre-Olomu’s is higher up on this list, he is still one of the best players on the Ducks.

7. WR Amari Cooper, Alabama

It will be interesting to see how Alabama does with a new quarterback, but at least that QB will have a great wide receiver to throw to in Amari Cooper. With that said, Cooper did see a drop in his stats this past season.

6. RB Duke Johnson, Miami

Duke Johnson has not had a 1,000-yard season yet, but 2014 could be that year. Johnson has the talent to win the Heisman, but that remains to be seen.

5. RB Todd Gurley, Georgia

Todd Gurley ran for 989 yards and 10 touchdowns last season. May I remind you that he missed three games. Oh yeah, he also had 441 receiving yards and six TDs. Aaron Murray is no longer on the team, so Gurley might have to play even bigger in the upcoming season.

4. QB Braxton Miller, Ohio State

Braxton Miller has had two seasons in a row where he passed for 2,000+ yards and ran for 1,000+ yards. If he can produce similar stats in the upcoming season — hopefully a little better — he will be in the Heisman conversation all year long.

3. QB Bryce Petty, Baylor

Bryce Petty may not be Robert Griffin III, but he is still a very good player. This past season, he managed to throw for 4,200 yards, 32 touchdowns and just three interceptions. He also had 14 more TDs on the ground.

2. QB Marcus Mariota, Oregon

Marcus Mariota is easily one of the best QBs heading into the 2014-15 college football season. Although Oregon is more than capable of winning a title, Mariota is going to have to be on his A game all season.

1. QB Jameis Winston, Florida State

Jameis Winston not only won the Heisman last season, but he also led Florida State to the national championship, which it won. Repeating both in 2014-15 is certainly not out of the question. Regardless, Winston is definitely a player to watch out for.
