The Ole Miss Rebels and Vanderbilt Commodores, two SEC teams coming off of completely different starts to the season, are both looking at a must-win situation. Ole Miss needs to defeat Vanderbilt to maintain its momentum in the conference, whereas Vanderbilt needs a win to avoid spiraling into chaos. Here are five bold predictions for the Vanderbilt matchup in Nashville vs. Ole Miss.

After a 30-point loss to a team which the Commodores were expected to defeat by multiple touchdowns, don’t be surprised to see Vandy come out extremely cautious at the beginning of the game. Expect several three-and-outs early in the game.

Vanderbilt has question marks all over the offense, but the biggest area of concern is still the quarterback position. No one on that roster is a SEC-ready quarterback; the Rebels’ young, talented defense will tear apart the offense.

3. Bo Wallace Gets Off to a Good Start

It took the Rebels’ passing game a while to get up and running against Boise State, but once they did, Ole Miss and QB Bo Wallace looked good. With tons of confidence after his 387-yard, four-touchdown performance over the Broncos, Wallace should start off strong against a clearly shaken Vanderbilt team.

2. Vandy Defense Steps Up

One reason why many thought Vanderbilt would be good this season is because their defense is arguably the most talented it has ever been. Defensively, the Temple game is a fluke, so expect the Vandy D to give Ole Miss some trouble at times during the game.

Unfortunately, the problem with being good on just one side of the ball is that eventually the players get tired. Vanderbilt will give a strong first-half performance, but will disappoint Nashville yet again with a blowout by the end of the game.
