Taking it to the Texas Longhorns on the road just may have put the BYU Cougars on college football’s radar. The Cougars hit the road to play a revamped Texas team in week two and made a blowout victory look easy. Now that BYU is 2-0 and ranked in the Top 25, it seems like nothing can stop this electric offense and stingy defense.

Losing a home opener against an in-state foe is never easy, but the Houston Cougars bounced back in week two to make it up to the home fans with a blowout victory over Grambling State. This team isn’t exactly the run-and-gun type of team that it used to be, but it’s not exactly a pushover.

Led by junior quarterback Taysom Hill, BYU has the potential to surprise many people this year and maybe even run the table with somewhat of a favorable schedule remaining. Hill leads the offense in passing and rushing as the dual-threat QB has completed 73 percent of his passes for 489 yards and three scores while running for another 196 yards and five touchdowns. Jamaal Williams is the next leading rusher with 89 yards and no scores on just 19 carries for the 38th-ranked rushing attack in the nation. Jordan Leslie leads all receivers with nine catches for 109 yards and Mitch Mathews is close behind with nine catches for 86 yards and a score.

Houston hasn’t exactly been the proud owner of a potent offense this season, but it has led to a 1-1 record, nonetheless. The Cougars were known for their passing attack at one point in time, but this year that hasn’t been the case. Sophomore quarterback John O’Korn hasn’t exactly impressed through two starts in his second season as the starter, completing just 52 percent of his passes for 404 yards and a touchdown — along with four interceptions. Deontay Greenberry has been his saving grace, however, catching 11 passes for 206, but no scores to show for it. Kenneth Farrow leads the rushing attack with 151 yards and a touchdown on 20 carries.

Defensively, Houston has been more impressive than its record shows. The Cougars allowed just 263 yards in its first game, which resulted in a loss, and just 238 total yards in a week two win. Houston also allows just 13.5 points per contest. On the other side of the field, BYU allowed 355 yards in a week one win, but held Texas to a mere 258 yards and just seven points. The BYU Cougars know how to shut opponents down — even ones from power conferences.

Houston will travel to BYU to take on the Cougars at 9 p.m. EST on Thursday, Sept. 11. The game will be broadcasted on ESPN.

PREDICTION: Houston 10, BYU 27
