After two straight scares in ACC play, people are starting to fall off the Florida State Seminoles bandwagon. While Florida State is still the No. 1 team in the nation, people are starting to think it is human after all. It’s time the Seminoles change that.

It hasn’t been the most impressive of starts to the season for the Wake Forest Demon Deacons who have begun 2014 with a 2-3 record. Wake Forest has beaten just one FBS team this season and it looks like it’s going to be a long season for the program that hasn’t made a bowl game since 2011.

Jameis Winston is back under center for the Seminoles after a crucial one-game suspension that almost cost Florida State an early-season conference game against Clemson. Winston, and backup Sean Maguire, have contributed to the 15th-best passing attack in the nation, racking up 330.8 yards per game through the air. The reigning Heisman winner has accounted for 991 yards and seven touchdown passes on the season and Rashad Greene has become his favorite target. Greene leads the team with 35 catches for 543 yards and three touchdowns while the next closest receiver, Jesus Wilson, has accounted for 200 yards on 13 catches and three scores. The Seminoles’ rushing attack ranks 103rd in the nation behind first-year starter Karlos Williams‘ 303 yards and five touchdowns.

Wake Forest has been less than impressive offensively through five games to start the season. The Demon Deacons don’t excel in any major offensive category, ranking 95th in passing yards, 128th in rushing yards and 116th in points per game. Wake Forest has relied on a freshman quarterback in John Wolford this season who has passed for 1,005 yards and six touchdowns, but his 59 percent completion rate and 10 interceptions have been troublesome. Cam Serigne, E.J. Scott and Matt James lead the receiving game and all have over 200 yards. Serigne has 26 catches for 265 yards and a score, Scott has 22 catches for 239 yards and four scores and James has 18 snags for 217 yards. Orville Reynolds leads all rushers with 140 yards on 51 carries but Isaiah Robinson has the team’s only rushing score.

Defensively, Wake Forest has been much more impressive than it has been on offense. The Demon Deacons rank 30th in yards allowed with 330.8 while also ranking 34th in points allowed. The defense has been the only bright spot of this year’s Wake Forest squad. Florida State’s defense isn’t quite as solid as it was a season ago, ranking 66th in points allowed as well as standing in the lower half of the nation in yards allowed per game with just 0ver 400 per contest. The home crowd of Florida State will be rocking for this conference game.

Wake Forest will travel to Florida State to take on the Seminoles at 3:30 p.m. EST on Saturday, Oct. 4. The game will be broadcasted on ABC.

PREDICTION: Wake Forest 7, Florida State 46
