Let’s all step back and just take a breath. That was one CRAZY week in college football. Oregon, Alabama, Oklahoma and so many others all went down this week. I wonder if the College Football Playoff committee is still thrilled about their job?

As expected, the top 25 rankings for Week 7 look WAY different than last week’s rankings.

25. LSU Tigers (4-2)

The LSU Tigers could have gotten their season back on track with a victory over Auburn. Well, LSU showed that it has a long way to go. Losing 41-7 isn’t a very promising result.

24. USC Trojans (3-2)

The USC Trojans are probably in a lot of pain right now. After all, it is not everyday that a team loses in Hail Mary fashion. Another team with one loss entering the night, USC could have gotten its season back on track as well with a win over Arizona State.

23. Wisconsin Badgers (3-2)

By now, I am sure fans are saying give teams that are undefeated or only have one loss a chance. Well, the two-loss marathon isn’t over quite yet. Wisconsin may have two losses already, but it could still win the Big 10. Wishful thinking, people.

22. Stanford Cardinal (3-2)

I promise the two-loss streak is over after this. Fans can blame all of the upsets on that one … or my thought process when it comes to the top 25, I guess. In Stanford’s defense, its losses have come against ranked opponents.

21. Nebraska Cornhuskers (5-1)

I have to give Nebraska some credit. After all, it was trailing Michigan State 27-3 entering the fourth quarter. The final score? How about 27-22 in the Spartans’ favor. Up until that game, the Cornhuskers were, of course, undefeated.

20. Missouri Tigers (4-1)

It’s a good thing the Missouri Tigers had the night off because so many top 25 teams went down today. The Tigers will try and beat their second ranked opponent in a row as they take on Georgia next.

19. Arizona State Sun Devils (4-1)

Don’t worry, Arizona State, we didn’t forget about you. The Sun Devils may have gotten blown out by UCLA last game, but they took it to USC this weekend. In fact, they knocked them off with a Hail Mary as time expired. Now that is how you win a football game.

18. East Carolina Pirates (4-1)

East Carolina very well could go undefeated from here. If the Pirates do manage to achieve that feat, they could make an interesting case for the College Football Playoff. Not saying they will make it, but by the time bowl season comes around, you would think East Carolina would at least be in the top 10 — if they continue to win.

17. UCLA Bruins (4-1)

Coming off of a blowout victory over Arizona State, the UCLA Bruins didn’t exactly wow us this week -- lost to Utah. Unfortunately, they will take on Oregon next.

16. Oklahoma State Cowboys (4-1)

Oklahoma State has been pretty quiet, but it continues to win, which is really all that matters.

15. Arizona Wildcats (5-0)

Speaking of teams that have been quiet, the Arizona Wildcats have been the exact opposite. This Arizona team managed to knock off Oregon this week. But wait, there’s more! The Wildcats managed to beat the Ducks ON THE ROAD.

14. TCU Horned Frogs (4-0)

Here’s another team that got the nation’s attention this week. TCU managed to knock off the Oklahoma Sooners. Up next will be Baylor. Win that game, and win America’s heart, or something like that.

13. Ohio State Buckeyes (4-1)

The Ohio State Buckeyes benefited from so many teams in front of them losing. Beating another team (Maryland) by the score of 52-24 doesn’t hurt either.

12. Texas A&M Aggies (5-1)

In this part of the Week 7 rankings, we visit teams that were upset on Saturday.

Well, so much for the Aggies being the best team in the SEC. They just got done losing to Mississippi State by 17 points.

11. Oregon Ducks (4-1)

I really thought this was the season that Oregon was going to go undefeated and win a championship. Although that undefeated thing is over, the Ducks still do have a shot at winning a title, but they must rebound against UCLA next.

10. Oklahoma Sooners (4-1)

I figured Oklahoma would lose a game this season, but I did not think that loss was going to come against TCU. That’s why they play the games. Oklahoma may have taken a big hit, but it should have no problem rebounding against Texas next.

9. Alabama Crimson Tide (4-1)

Yet another College Football Playoff contender that lost this week. Ole Miss was clearly a worthy opponent, but Alabama’s loss still has a lot of shock value. There are no such things as breaks in the SEC, so the Crimson Tide better get over this one quick.

8. Georgia Bulldogs (4-1)

Georgia had no problem against Vanderbilt, but it will travel on the road in its next two contests. Nothing is certain, but the way things are looking, the Bulldogs should win the SEC East. With that said, there is a LOT of football that needs to be played still.

7. Michigan State Spartans (4-1)

After losing to Oregon early on, the Michigan State Spartans have been pretty quiet. Well, they ended their silence with a win over Nebraska. They should continue that trend — winning — for quite some time.

6. Mississippi State Bulldogs (5-0)

Don’t look now, but the Mississippi State Bulldogs have beaten a top 10 opponent (at the time) in back-to-back games. We will have to wait and see if the Bulldogs can pull off the ultimate feat against Auburn next. The Tigers are also ranked in the top 10.

5. Ole Miss Rebels (5-0)

The state of Mississippi is definitely rocking right now. Ole Miss also beat a top 10 opponent this weekend. Beating the Alabama Crimson Tide is no easy task, but the Rebels did it anyways.

4. Notre Dame Fighting Irish (5-0)

Up until this weekend, Notre Dame could have very well been the most underrated team in the nation. Well, we see you now, Notre Dame. The Fighting Irish just got done winning their biggest game of the year against Stanford. They have to keep the momentum going, though, as they play North Carolina and Florida State next.

3. Baylor Bears (5-0)

You may not think the Baylor Bears are the third best team in the country, but they have certainly earned this ranking, as they have beaten every team they have played so far. Up next will be TCU. A win for either team would be pretty big.

2. Auburn Tigers (5-0)

Well hello there, Auburn. The Tigers of Auburn just got done crushing the Tigers of LSU by the score of 41-7. They got everyone’s attention in the process.

Florida State has gotten a lot of crap this season, but it is still undefeated. Beloved teams like Alabama, Oregon and Oklahoma are not. That has to count for something. Like the No. 1 ranking in the top 25.
