Michigan Football: RB Derrick Green Injury Continues Bad News Parade

Derrick Green running back for Michigan Wolverines

Bad news continues to mount for the Michigan Wolverines. As if the recent controversy surrounding the program wasn’t enough, the team has just lost their starting tailback to a broken clavicle. Derrick Green is expected to undergo season ending-surgery to repair the broken bone, and the Wolverines will surely miss Green’s presence.

Michigan is struggling to be the team that they once were, and Green was the running back who was supposed to bring power football back to Ann Arbor. That hadn’t materialized even prior to his injury, but this is just another bump in what has been a very rocky season. It looks like the Wolverines will now have an even more difficult time putting together wins without their leading rusher.

In order for the Wolverines to be successful, they will need to be able to run the football efficiently. Devin Gardner is not accurate enough to put the team on his shoulders, and Devin Funchess has been trying to play through various injuries all season long. De’Veon Smith is going to have to step up huge if the Wolverines want to make a bowl game.

As if things did not look bad enough for the Michigan Wolverines, now they have an even bigger challenge. Brady Hoke‘s fate rests on his team’s shoulders, and his fate is looking more uncertain after every game.
