Top 5 Performances From College Football Week 6

Week 6 in college football, like most weeks, had a slew of outstanding performances. This includes the electric Sterling Shepard's seven catches for 215 yards and a touchdown for his Oklahoma Sooners. However, believe it or not, Shepard's performance wasn't good enough to crack the top five even though he was really close. Let's take a look at who made the cut for the top five performances for Week 6 in NCAA football.

5. River Cracraft - WR - Washington State Cougars

Although his WR partner-in-crime, Vince Mayle, recorded more receiving yards with 263, River Cracraft's performance had more impact. Identical to Mayle, Cracraft was able to record 11 receptions during the high-scoring shootout against the California Golden Bears. However, Cracraft also registered 172 receiving yards and a total of three touchdowns. Due to his end zone prowess in this game, Cracraft edges out his teammate for the No. 5 spot.

4. Mike Bercovici - QB - Arizona State Sun Devils

Mike Bercovici is actually the backup QB on Arizona State's depth chart, but an injury to Taylor Kelly has boosted him into the starting role. Bercovici performed fairly well, but he was facing his first true test against the USC Trojans and their dominant secondary that hadn't given up a touchdown all season. However, Bercovici ended their streak by delivering three passing touchdowns along with 510 passing yards to beat USC 38-34.

3. Jaelen Strong - WR - Arizona State Sun Devils

In a previous "bold predictions" article, my top prediction was that Jaelen Strong would end USC's streak of allowing zero passing touchdowns and that he would catch two against them. Strong decided that two simply wouldn't be good enough to prove his NFL-caliber ability and decided to wreck USC's secondary for 10 catches, 202 yards and three touchdowns. Strong has officially stamped his name as a future, early first-round draft pick.

2. Jared Goff - QB - California Golden Bears

The total points scored in the Week 6 matchup between the California Golden Bears and the Washington State Cougars was an astronomical 119. Therefore, it should be no surprise that one or both of the quarterbacks in the game finished with insane, video game-like numbers. Jared Goff happened to be one of those QBs as he finished with 527 passing yards and five touchdowns in a thrilling 60-59 victory over Washington State.

1. Connor Halliday - QB - Washington State Cougars

Even though his team ended up losing a heartbreaker to Cal, Halliday still had the top performance out of any player in college football this week. Taking full advantage of Mike Leach's "Air Raid" offensive style, the former Ferris HS standout broke the NCAA record for most passing yards in a game with 734 to go along with six touchdowns. He was the clear top performer for Week 6 and now will aim to break even more NCAA passing records.
