Predicting the Final Score of Oregon vs. UCLA

Both the UCLA Bruins and the Oregon Ducks are coming off of tough losses that put their postseason hopes in serious jeopardy. The Bruins have been struggling all season, failing to put together four dominant quarters. They haven’t justified the early preseason hype, and now find themselves dropping in the rankings. The Ducks got their signature win early on, but were unable to stay undefeated after facing a very good Arizona Wildcats team. They must rebound if they want a shot at the playoffs, and will likely need help from other teams.

The Bruins had a lot of excitement heading into the season, but have yet to live up to it. They already have one loss, and now must face a very explosive offensive team. Their defense has the athletes and talent to keep up with the Ducks’ offense, but they must play together as a team and limit their mistakes. They need to get early pressure on Marcus Mariota and keep him from using his legs to beat them. Their offense has struggled to sustain drives, but they cannot rely on a quick strike offense if they want to win. They need to keep the Ducks’ offense off of the field and put together quality drives.

The Ducks were one of the top-ranked teams before being upset by the Wildcats. Now, they must travel to the Rose Bowl to face a tough Bruins team. Luckily, the Bruins have not been as good as advertised. The Ducks’ defense should be able to get plenty of pressure against the Bruins’ shaky offensive line, and their defense could feast off poor decision making from Brett Hundley. On the other side of the ball, Mariota needs to bounce back and lead the offense against an inconsistent defense, which he is capable of doing.

If Oregon is able to score a couple of early touchdowns, then they will be able to take the crowd out of the game and make the Bruins play catch up. The Bruins have had their fair share of trouble against the Ducks in the past, and just haven’t looked as good as the team they were billed to be at the beginning of the season. They have plenty of talent, but will come up short again, taking them out of playoff consideration.

Final Score: Oregon 38 UCLA 28
