5 Bold Predictions For Oregon vs. UCLA

Last year when the UCLA Bruins and Oregon Ducks played, it was an awful experience for UCLA as they were dominated 42-14. It was even more embarrassing for UCLA's top NFL prospect, QB Brett Hundley, as he went 13-for-19 and finished with a minuscule 64 passing yards for a career-worst performance. He now gets a chance at revenge this Saturday and there are some bold predictions to make for the rest of the game as well. Let's check them out.

Considering how Oregon shut him down last year, this is about as bold of a prediction as one can make regarding Hundley. However it is encouraging that he has 1,310 passing yards on the season to go with nine TDs and only two INTs. It also helps that Oregon is ranked 119th against passing offenses this year. Therefore, I fully expect Hundley to at least get statistical revenge against the Ducks by passing for over 300 yards and at least two TDs.

Between Byron Marshall, Thomas Tyner and Royce Freeman, the Ducks have plenty of talent at the RB position. Unfortunately, they've performed without the expected explosiveness that Oregon RBs have been known for in the past with players like LaMichael James and De'Anthony Thomas. However, I expect that level of explosiveness to be on display against UCLA as Oregon will get their running game established early and churn out 200-plus yards.

Against the UCLA Bruins last year, Mariota threw for 230 yards and a touchdown while only gaining 18 yards rushing. The dual-threat, NFL-caliber QB's scrambling ability wasn't needed much since Byron Marshall ran all over UCLA for 133 yards and three TDs. However, for this year's game, I expect Mariota to be involved early with the run game to soften up UCLA's secondary. This will lead to 300 total yards, two passing TDs and two rushing TDs.

2. Paul Perkins Will Rush For Over 150 yards and 2 TDs

Paul Perkins has been impressive this season with a total of 540 rushing yards and three TDs. He is also averaging an impressive 5.7 yards-per-carry and will be involved early and often in the Bruins' offensive plan this Saturday. Last year, Perkins ran for 93 yards against Oregon, and I can see him having a better game this time around as UCLA should try to establish a strong ground game early. Perkins should break 150 yards easily with two TDs.

Even though UCLA should avoid throwing in the direction of Ekpre-Olomu, who happens to be the best CB in the nation, it will be nearly impossible to achieve as he tends to line up in multiple spots on defense. His opportunities will be limited due to his notoriety as an NFL-caliber ballhawk, but he will take full advantage when they happen. Not only do I see him picking off two passes, but I feel he will intercept and return the game-winning TD.
