Bold Predictions For Washington State vs. Stanford

Although the Washington State Cougars certainly don’t have the best record in college football (2-4), they still have a terrific offense and a quarterback who racks up the yards. With that said, the Stanford Cardinal (3-2) are allowing the fewest amount of points per game. It will be an interesting matchup to say the least, but let’s take a look at five bold predictions before this Friday showdown gets underway.

Washington State is averaging 38 points a game. Not bad. The team is coming off of a 59-point outing against California. Now, the Cardinal’s defense is very stingy when it comes to allowing points, but this Washington State team is lethal when at best. Expect the offense to be at its best in the beginning of this game.

4. Washington State Scores 25+

Stanford is allowing 8.6 points per game. Although 25 points would be under the Cougars’ season average, it would certainly be quite the feat to put up 25+ on the Cardinal. They already have two shutouts this year, so in no way will that be easy.

3. Connor Halliday Throws For 400 or More Yards

QB Connor Halliday is coming off of a beastly performance. After all, he did throw for 734 yards last game. He has only thrown under 400 yards one time this season. Stanford’s D may be good, but Halliday is having a very productive year.

Coming off of a loss to Notre Dame, I am predicting the Cardinal to get off to a bad start. Washington State is coming off of a game where its offense couldn’t be stopped (neither could Cal’s). However, Stanford will get it together after halftime, and will find a way to stop Washington State.

Stanford already has two losses on the season. It wasn’t even supposed to lose two games all year long. If the Cardinal can’t beat the Cougars, they are in serious trouble. I expect their defense to come up big, though, at least in the second half.
