This college football season has been an extremely whacky one. Teams have come out of nowhere to be competitive, and one such team is Mississippi State. Led by the play of Dak Prescott, the Bulldogs have risen to collegiate prominence. After their Auburn beatdown this past weekend, Hail State might be the best team in the country with Prescott as the top reason behind their success.

Dak Prescott was expected to have a good season in 2014, but no one expected the type of year he is having now. Mississippi State is not known for producing a ton of NFL players, but Prescott has the makings of one. It's scary to say this, but Prescott might get even better.

Before the game against Auburn, the Tigers head coach Gus Malzahn compared the 2014 Prescott to the 2010 Cam Newton and it is easy to see why. Both are big, strong quarterbacks who simply get the job done on the ground for through the air. Prescott is so dangerous because he has the ability to run and pass.

When you take a look at the skill players Prescott has around him compared to the players Jameis Winston has to work with, it is easy to see the difference in talent. Prescott has made guys like De'Runnya Wilson and Jameon Lewis become real good players. Prescott's ability to make the players around him better is second to none.

Like Johnny Manziel two years ago, Prescott carries a ton of swagger with him on and off the field. That swagger has made the country like QB. The state of Mississippi sees Prescott as an icon, and if Mississippi State can continue their play, the country will see just how good he is. Heisman winners always have swagger, and Prescott has it.

For years, Mississippi State has been a bottom-feeder in the SEC. Now 6-0, the Bulldogs are in first place of the SEC West and they are fresh off of wins against Auburn, Texas A&M and LSU in consecutive weeks. At the beginning of the season, it would've been farfetched to say Mississippi State would make the playoffs, but they will likely do just that if they can win their next six games.
