Michigan Wolverines Still Need To Fire Brady Hoke

While Michigan Wolverine faithful rejoice in this weekend’s win over a Penn State program that is still very much reeling from NCAA sanctions, the fact still remains that the program is in need of a fresh face and head coach Brady Hoke needs to go.

The school’s record this year has been abysmal, and that is in no small part thanks to the offense. For a program with such a rich history of winning  — most all-time wins in college football, and the most undefeated seasons in college football are just some of the records the Michigan football program holds — an offense that ranks 92nd in the FBS is simply not acceptable. This offense is averaging a measly 175.9 passing yards per game and 21.7 points per game. To be fair, had this been the 1960s, Hoke’s offense wouldn’t have been anything to laugh at. However that is not the case, and three touchdowns a game just simply isn’t enough anymore.

This brings me to my last point. For the miserable coaching effort that Hoke has put forward in his tenure as the Wolverines head coach, it isn’t his fault, because quite frankly, the people who hired him should have known what type of mediocrity they had signed up for. Here is a man who has been the head coach of three separate college football teams, Michigan included. Hoke complied an overall record of 34-38 at Ball State. He coached his way to a 13-12 record at San Diego State. What AD in the right state of mind would think that an overall record of 47- 50 is a record that deserves the Michigan job?

Sure, Dave Brandon can hang his hat on the thought that Hoke was a guy who turned around both of his former programs, however, when you see the body of work over his time at Michigan, it is clear that someone else is needed to lead that team before it runs completely aground.
