If you like top five matchups, you are going to love this one. Florida State is the defending national champs. Notre Dame made the BCS title game in the 2012-13 season. Both teams are back at it again and will take the field against one another this weekend.

Before this showdown goes down, check out these five bold predictions.

Jameis Winston and Everett Golson are both Heisman contenders. Neither QB is leading the race, but a big game in this one could change that in a heartbeat. Regardless, expect these two quarterbacks to have a showdown for the ages. After all, you are looking at two of the best QBs in college football.

The winner of this contest will end up in the College Football Playoff. Sure, both teams have some tough matchups left after this one, but this game is that big. And, I highly doubt either team loses two or more games this year.

3. Loser Won’t Be Eliminated From CFP

Since both teams have some tough matchups left after this one (and the season is still early enough to rebound from a loss), the loser won’t be eliminated from the CFP. The loser will more than likely have to win out, though.

2. First Team to 40 Points Wins

40?! These two teams are allowing a combined 37.9 points per game. True, but the Seminoles are averaging 39 points per game. The Fighting Irish are putting up 34.5 points per game. Both teams can score, both teams have great QBs. Although the defenses very well could take over this game, I am saying the first one to 40 points wins.

I really think this Notre Dame team has what it takes to get back to the title game, but the Fighting Irish’s chances would be much better on a neutral field.

This is the defending national champs we are talking about. Say what you want about Winston, but the Seminoles are a very talented team, and Winston could still be the best player in the game.

This could be the best game of 2014, but FSU comes away with the W.
