UCLA was able to end a two-game losing streak by defeating California away from home last weekend. The win kept the Bruins hopes of a Pac 12 championship. Despite a strong start to the season, UCLA suffered back-to-back losses. These losses appeared to effectively end the conference championship hopes of the Bruins. However, their schedule becomes slightly easier for the remainder of the season. If they can take care of business in the last five games of the regular season, they still have a chance to win the Pac 12 and possibly earn a spot in the College Football Playoff.

The Bruins’ offense has scored an average of over 35 points per game this season. However, their explosive offense has needed to put up points, because their porous defense has given up a whopping 29 points per game. The offense is led by quarterback Brett Hundley. The junior quarterback has thrown for 13 touchdowns and scored four touchdowns with his legs. Hundley is also completing an astounding 72.5 percent of his passes. Hopefully for the Bruins, they will be able to build a lead early and control the clock with their running game and Paul Perkins. The sophomore running back has rushed for 813 yards this season and has showed no signs of slowing down.

Colorado is off to another disappointing start in the Pac 12. The Buffaloes are 0-4 in conference play and 2-5 overall. The only wins on their record are against UMASS and Hawaii. However, they have been competitive in several conference games this season. They lost in double overtime against California and lost to Oregon State by a five-point margin. Any signs of optimism were promptly erased last week as Colorado was thrashed by USC 56-28. The Buffs are giving up an average of 38.6 points per game, ranking 121st nationally in this category. Life does not get any easier as Colorado takes on the 31st ranked scoring offense in the nation.

When looking at this matchup, we have an explosive offense with a lot of firepower taking on a vulnerable defense that has struggled to stop anyone this season. All signs point to an offensive explosion for the Bruins, but unfortunately for Bruins fans, they will need to score points in order to compensate for their mediocre defense. In the end, Hundley and the Bruins will be too much for the Buffaloes. Colorado will score a lot of points, but they will not be able to keep up with UCLA.

Final Score: UCLA 45, Colorado 27
