Although this past weekend in college football didn’t have the most intriguing matchups entering Saturday, it was still yet another exciting weekend. LSU upsetting Ole Miss had a lot to do with that. As usual, some players stuck out above the rest, and these 10 players certainly stick out above the rest when it comes to the Heisman Trophy.

Rakeem Cato is likely not going to win the Heisman this year, but there is still something to say about a QB leading his team to a perfect record. Marshall is 8-0 on the season, and Cato is a big reason for that.

It wasn't one of Melvin Gordon's best performances, but he still managed to rush for 122 yards and three touchdowns. Yeah, he is kind of good.

8. QB Bryce Petty, Baylor

Bryce Petty and the Baylor Bears had the week off. For what it's worth, Petty has 17 touchdown passes and just three interceptions this season. Not bad.

It was another typical week for Ameer Abdullah -- 225 rushing yards, three TDs. If it weren't for a five-point loss to Michigan State, Nebraska would be undefeated. Just saying.

After scoring 82 points last weekend, TCU deserves a lot of recognition. So does the Horned Frogs' QB, who threw for 433 yards and seven touchdowns in that game.

5. WR Amari Cooper, Alabama

Amari Cooper exploded for 224 yards against the Tennessee Volunteers. He also had two touchdowns. Cooper is hands-down the best WR in college football.

There are plenty of Jameis Winston haters out there, as there should be. However, Winston is arguably the best quarterback on arguably the best team in the country. When it is all said and done, all of the off-the-field issues could ruin Winston's chances of winning back-to-back Heismans.

3. QB Everett Golson, Notre Dame

Sure, Everett Golson and the Notre Dame Fighting Irish lost to the Seminoles in their last contest, but Golson is still one of the top players in the country. He could still lead his team to the playoff, which would certainly help his case for the Heisman.

2. QB Marcus Mariota, Oregon

Marcus Mariota has 24 passing touchdowns and one interception this year. Enough said.

Whether if it is making plays on the ground or through the air, Dak Prescott does it all. It doesn't hurt that his team is currently No. 1 in the rankings.
