Having a bye week to think about what went wrong in an upset loss to West Virginia in week eight, the Baylor Bears will likely come out playing angry and ready to beat down anyone who stands in their way. Baylor won’t go down easy in the Big 12 title race.

Losing their head coach in the middle of the season due to poor play and basically zero improvement in sight, the Kansas Jayhawks have been lucky to get two wins this year. It looks like it’s going to be yet another year without a bowl appearance for this basketball school.

Baylor has one of the best offenses in all of college football, just like it has for the past few seasons under head coach Art Briles. The Bears rank seventh in the nation in passing yards, 22nd in rushing yards and second in points per game this season. Bryce Petty decided to return for his senior season and the quarterback seemingly made the correct choice as he has accounted for 1,747 yards, 17 touchdowns and just three interceptions while his 54 percent completion rate could use some work. Petty’s favorite target has been breakout freshman star KD Cannon who has caught 31 passes for 661 yards and six touchdowns this year. Antwan Goodley is finally emerging in the pass game, like many knew he would, catching 27 passes for 473 yards and four scores. Corey Coleman and Jay Lee are also names to watch out for in the receiving game. Shock Linwood leads the solid rushing attack with 696 yards and nine touchdowns while Johnny Jefferson has been surprisingly solid, rushing for 336 yards and three touchdowns.

No one should be at all surprised that the offense of Kansas doesn’t nearly stack up with that of Baylor. The Jayhawks have the sixth-worst scoring offense to go along with the 103rd-ranked passing attack and 80th-ranked rushing offense. After starting the year as the team’s backup, Michael Cummings has since filled in for Montell Cozart as the team’s starter. Cozart passed for just 693 yards, five touchdowns and seven interceptions before giving way to Cummings — the replacement QB has 594 yards and two touchdowns this year to go along with two rushing scores. Jimmay Mundine will continue to be the team’s top target, accounting for 294 yards and a touchdown while his partner in crime, Nick Harwell, is second on the team with 259 yards to go along with two touchdowns and 27 catches. Corey Avery leads the run game with 417 yards and three scores while backup De’Andre Mann bolsters the run attack with 362 yards of his own.

Defensively, the Jayhawks have been one of the most consistently poor units this season. Kansas ranks just 75th in total yards allowed per game, 411.3, and 77th in scoring defense, allowing an average of four touchdowns per game. Baylor has been solid against poor teams this season, but it has struggled against ranked opponents. Baylor ranks 43rd in points allowed as well as 21st in total yards allowed per game. McLane Stadium fans will be rocking for a couple quarters as the game will likely be over by halftime.

Kansas will travel to Baylor to take on the Bears at 4 p.m. EST on Saturday, Nov. 1. The game will be broadcasted on FOX Sports 1.

PREDICTION: Kansas 10, Baylor 49
