Week 10 featured many of the players in the race for the Heisman Trophy in action, and while most stepped up and showcased why they are in the hunt, a couple faltered and fell behind. Here are the top 10 players in the Heisman race (in descending order).

Trevone Boykin was coming off back-to-back 400 yard passing games and had thrown for 10 touchdowns in the past two weeks, but was held in check by the West Virginia defense. He completed only 40 percent of his passes for 166 yards and a TD to go along with an interception, but added another 49 yards and a TD on the ground. He led the Horned Frogs back from nine points down in the 4th quarter to a road victory against No. 20 West Virginia.

9. Bryce Petty - QB, Baylor

After throwing for 510 yards two weeks ago against TCU, Bryce Petty had a down game last week in a loss against West Virginia, throwing for only 223 yards and two touchdowns. He rebounded Saturday against the Kansas Jayhawks, leading Baylor to a convincing 60-14 victory and throwing for 277 yards, three scores and a 178.4 QB rating, his second highest total of the year.

8. Nick Marshall - QB, Auburn

After accounting for four touchdowns last week against South Carolina, Nick Marshall was riding a wave of momentum into a key road matchup against Ole Miss. The Land Shark defense of Ole Miss proved to be no match for Marshall, as he amassed another four touchdowns -- two through the air and two on the ground en route to Auburn's biggest win of the season.

7. Jameis Winston - QB, Florida State

Last year's Heisman winner continued his first-half struggles for the second straight game, allowing his Florida State Seminoles to fall behind 21-7 to Louisville. However, he led his team back to victory in the second half and ended up throwing for 401 yards and three touchdowns, but he did have the first three interception game of his career.

6. Ameer Abdullah - RB, Nebraska

Ameer Abdullah was coming off a 225 yard rushing performance against Rutgers where he averaged an astonishing 12 yards per carry and had three touchdowns, but disaster struck against Purdue. Abdullah rushed six times for only one yard before exiting the game with a mild MCL sprain in his left knee, but appears to have avoided a more serious injury.

5. Amari Cooper - WR, Alabama

Everett Golson was coming off a bye following a loss to Florida State and took his frustrations out on the Navy defense. He accounted for six touchdowns (three passing and three rushing) and threw for more than 300 yards for the third straight game en route to his highest QB rating of the year (209.4).

3. Melvin Gordon - RB, Wisconsin

Melvin Gordon had accounted for at least one touchdown in every game this year heading into Saturday, and his matchup with Rutgers was no different. He rushed 19 times for 128 yards and found the end zone on two separate occasions. He came into the game fourth in the FBS with 1,168 rushing yards and third in rushing touchdowns with 16.

2. Dak Prescott - QB, Mississippi State

Dak Prescott threw for a career-high 330 yards in a tight win against unheralded Arkansas on Saturday, but threw for only one touchdown against two interceptions. He also had his fewest rushing yards since his first game of the season and seemed to take a step back in his Heisman chase.

Mariota entered the game as the frontrunner for the Heisman, and he played like it. Facing the top defense in the nation in yards per game and the second ranked scoring defense in Stanford, he put on a show, throwing for 257 yards and two touchdowns and rushing for 86 yards and another two scores to lead Oregon to an impressive 45-16 home victory.
