The Florida State Seminoles have made it this far without losing their starting quarterback (technically lost him for one game due to a suspension), but the fate of former Heisman Trophy winner Jameis Winston will be decided in around two weeks.

According to USA Today, Winston’s hearing has been scheduled for the week of Nov. 17.

Talk about having a major distraction at the wrong time. Assuming the hearing happens right around the 17th, FSU will only have two games left in the regular season: one against Boston College and the other against the Florida Gators. The Seminoles should have no problem winning both games, but who knows if they can pull off that feat if Winston has to miss any amount of time.

This may come as a huge shocker, but if Florida State wins out it is going to be playing in the College Football Playoff. There is no doubt about it. There is certainly plenty of doubt surrounding Winston’s chances of winning another Heisman, but I am sure Winston and his team are more worried about winning back-to-back titles.

Hopefully after this hearing, Winston, Florida State, the media, fans and everyone else can put this all behind them and we can just worry about the Seminoles’ next opponent, not whether Winston really did commit a crime in the past.

Winston has had a good amount of off-the-field issues to say the least. Regardless, it will be interesting to see how this hearing goes and what will happen to Winston. If he is suspended for any amount of time, the Seminoles’ chances of winning it all this year will instantly be put in danger.
