It was the earthquake felt in Tuscaloosa and the rain that swept through Baton Rouge. How elated are Alabama football fans right about now, and how disappointed must LSU fans be to have a victory within their grasp, only to see it slip away thanks to an overtime touchdown that gave Alabama  a dramatic 20-13 win?

It almost was a dark and depressing day throughout the state. Earlier in the day, Auburn fell to Texas A&M, likely ending Auburn’s national title hopes. Flash forward to Saturday night, and it looked like the Crimson Tide were dead in the water. A T.J. Yeldon fumble set LSU up for a golden scoring opportunity. Yet, all the Tigers could muster was a field goal. That set the stage for Alabama to march down the field, kick a field goal and force overtime.

Whoever said Alabama didn’t have a kicking game? It’s amazing what one team can do with its back to the wall. So not only does Alabama win, but it likely moves up in the standings.

What’s next? The hunt for a national champion has been very exciting to watch this season. The thought of Alabama and Auburn not being involved in the title hunt was scary. Now, there likely will be a second SEC team in the playoff picture. but that could change. It looked like Alabama was on the outside looking in, but it was a chaotic week that may have changed the whole title picture and put Alabama back in familiar territory.
