It has been a dream season for the Mississippi State Bulldogs despite last week’s loss to Alabama. The Bulldogs have gotten off to the hottest start in school history and they had been No. 1 for about a month before their first loss in week 12. The Vanderbilt Commodores don’t stand much of a chance against the Bulldogs as they have yet to win an SEC game this season, sitting at 0-6 in conference play.

Dak Prescott might be the most improved player in all of college football this season as he has already surpassed his 2013 numbers — and it hasn’t really been close. Prescott has passed for 2,521 yards, 20 touchdowns and 10 interceptions with a 60 percent completion rate; he has also rushed for 861 yards and 11 scores on the ground. The junior quarterback trails only Josh Robinson in the run game as the running back has 1,021 yards and 11 touchdowns on 6.2 yards per carry this year. De’Runnya Wilson has been the team’s top receiver, catching 30 passes for 458 yards and six touchdowns while Robinson has added 25 catches of his own for 347 yards. Sophomore wide out Fred Ross is second on the team with four TD catches to go along with 281 yards.

Vanderbilt easily has the worst offense in the SEC this season as many top players, and a coach, have departed for greener pastures. The Commodores rank 107th nationally in pass yards, 113th in rush yards and 119th in points per game this year. Freshman quarterback Jordan McCrary has taken over the starting spot under center, passing for 806 yards, nine touchdowns and six interceptions while also completing just 54 percent of his passes — he better watch out as Patton Robinette is aiming for his job. Steven Scheu leads all targets with 442 yards and three touchdown catches while C.J. Duncan has 422 yards and four scores of his own. Freshman running back Ralph Webb has been the lone bright spot on offense, rushing for 838 yards and three touchdowns.

Defensively, the Commodores have struggled this season, leading to their mediocre sub-.500 record. Vanderbilt ranks a lowly 101st in points allowed per game as well as 74th in total yards allowed per game. Mississippi State could use some improvement on this side of the ball, ranking just 81st in total yards allowed and a much better 17th in points allowed per game.

Vanderbilt will travel to Mississippi State to take on the Bulldogs at 7:30 p.m. EST on Saturday, Nov. 22. The game will be broadcasted on the SEC Network.

PREDICTION: Vanderbilt 13, Mississippi State 41
