Love it or hate it, the Alabama Crimson Tide are once again atop the college football world. Quarterback controversies and Lane Kiffin chatter made for an interesting journey to this point in the season for the Tide, but after a 25-20 victory over then-No. 1 Mississippi State last week, Alabama finds itself in great position for a title run.

This week, the Western Carolina Catamounts come to Tuscaloosa, and to cut to the chase, this one won’t be close. It’s possible that Nick Saban’s group could take this game lightly. After all, the Tide are coming off an impressive win over Mississippi State and next week the rival Auburn Tigers come to town. Alabama has not forgotten the way last year’s game against the in-state rival ended, and the Tide will surely look to seek revenge on the Tigers.

The Crimson Tide could overlook the game this Saturday. Maybe they will overlook this game, but one thing is for sure: it won’t matter. No matter how Alabama plays this weekend, this one will be a blowout. Western Carolina is 7-4, which isn’t horrible, but the losses come to South Florida, Presbyterian, Samford and a humiliating 51-0 loss to Chattanooga.

51-0. Chattanooga.

The key to this game will be to get the starters out as soon as possible so as to avoid injury. There’s no need to keep Amari Cooper or Blake Sims in the game any longer than absolutely necessary. Alabama has too much to lose to risk anything with the Catamounts. Expect the starters to play, but not for long.

Prediction: Alabama wins 63-3
