Black Friday gives the college football world an intense matchup as Nebraska travels to Iowa for a battle of two solid Big Ten programs. The Cornhuskers come in with one of the best running backs in the league in Ameer Abdullah, but don’t expect Abdullah to be the only one putting up big numbers on Friday.

The quarterbacks in this matchup have put up big numbers themselves. Iowa QB Jake Rudock has thrown for almost 2200 yards with 14 touchdowns, and he has also gotten into the end zone three times on the ground. Not to be outdone, Nebraska QB Tommy Armstrong Jr. has thrown for just over 2,100 yards with 15 touchdowns through the air and five more scores on the ground.

The defenses are similar as well, as Iowa gives up 23 points per game while Nebraska allows 24. It’s clear that both teams do very similar things and each has found success.

While the quarterbacks and defenses look to be quite similar, these teams have found success in different ways this season. The Cornhusker offense has put up big numbers all season scoring about 38 points per game, while the Hawkeyes only score about 28 per game. Assuming everything holds up, the Nebraska running attack looks to have a huge impact in this matchup.

If Abdullah and Armstrong Jr. can get free in the run game, things will look good for the Cornhuskers, but the Iowa defense has been stout in the past and will surely try and make things difficult for Nebraska in the run game.

Last week, however, in a close loss to Wisconsin, Iowa gave up 266 yards on the ground. They knew Wisconsin would run it and they just could not stop it. Look for Nebraska to exploit similar holes in the Iowa defense and run for big numbers in this game to give them the edge needed to win.

Prediction: Nebraska 37, Iowa 31
