It was the same movie we’ve seen all year, same script, same soundtrack and of course the same leading roles. Florida State once again struggled, fought, clawed and persevered, and everything they’ve worked for is still a possibility. A historic win streak, another undefeated season and back-to-back National Championships are still on the table.

The Noles edged out their most hated rivals in a game that was an exact copy cat of their entire season. Why wouldn’t it be? It’s who they are. Last year, they were world beaters who were untested for 12 games. This year, nothing has been easy — every game has been a struggle, every game there’s been doubt, and all the Seminoles do is win and move on, no matter what.

Going into Saturday’s game against Florida, we heard everything we had all year — the Seminoles can’t do this every week, they need to make a statement. Really though, who says they haven’t been making one all year? Doesn’t it say more about a team who refuses to lose and does everything it can to win than a team who yawns their way through a season? How will you know who will step up when they are needed the most? Who will step up to save the day? We know both those answers for the Seminoles, and they know it too.

There were four brutal interceptions this week by their Heisman Trophy winning quarterback, and another two score deficit to overcome. So what did they do? They ran the ball and the defense dug in and saved the day. Terrence Smith‘s crucial Pick 6 and their ability to harass Florida’s playmakers are the reasons why the Noles are headed to Charlotte with everything on the line.

So, who cares if you win by 50 or win in the last 50 seconds, as long as you win. That’s all the Seminoles do — they win. There’s another opponent next week, and the doubters will be out again. There will be people saying that this is the week that it strikes midnight in Tallahassee. To those people, do us all one favor, check the scoreboard. Actually, check the last 27 scoreboards; Florida State will be on top of all of them.
