In what came as a surprise to many, Bo Pelini was fired from Nebraska despite going 67-27 with the school. The reason for his firing was because he didn't win the big games, but his record speaks for itself. It shouldn't be a surprise if he gets offered plenty of head coaching and defensive coordinator jobs in the coming weeks. Here are the top five landing spots for Pelini in 2015.

Purdue hasn't been a relevant football team in the Big Ten in years. Darrell Hazell needs to go and the Boilermakers need to press the restart button with this program. To woo in Pelini, Purdue would have to offer him a ton of money, but it would make sense. Pelini would bring a swagger that is needed at this university.

Many thought South Carolina was going to compete in the SEC East in 2014. But because of their inability to get pressure on the quarterback due to the losses of Jadeveon Clowney, Kelcy Quarles and Devin Taylor, the Gamecocks need to bring in a defensive mind to establish them in the SEC. Pelini can do that in South Carolina.

Auburn is one of the most dynamic teams in all of college football. Their offense is one of, if not the best in the country. However, the reason why they aren't going to make the playoff in 2014 is because of their defense. Imagine the coaching combination of Gus Malzahn and Pelini. It would be a dominant one in the SEC.

2. Vanderbilt

Another team that is need of an established head coach is Vanderbilt. After losing James Franklin to Penn State last year, Vanderbilt was expected to have a down year and they had just that. To show how bad this Vanderbilt was, it should be said that they had just three wins this year. One of those came against Charleston Southern, where the Commodores won by one. Pelini would be a fresh start for this program.

John Chavis will likely take a head coaching job over the offseason which would open up a void at the defensive coordinator position for LSU. The perfect destination for Pelini would be to go back to the place where he made his money at LSU. With a year or two of success at LSU, Pelini will get another great head coaching job.
