Jameis Winston and Marcus Mariota, two of college football’s best quarterbacks, will match up against each other in the No. 2 versus No. 3 game. When you look at this game, the first thing is how different these teams are. Coming from the ACC, the Florida State Seminoles are a pro-style team that has future NFL talent on both sides of the ball. On the other side of the field, the Oregon Ducks are the fastest offense in the nation. With how different both teams are, this game has the potential to be a great one.

Although the Seminoles have won 29 straight games, dating back to 2012, the fact of the matter is that Florida State hasn’t brought their A-game week in and week out. Throughout the 2014 college season, Florida State has had trouble with multiple teams. Oklahoma State, North Carolina State, Boston College, and Florida have all given the Seminoles trouble, the reality is that Florida State has beaten all of them. Despite playing against what is seen by many as a weak schedule, the Seminoles are the defending champions and they are deserving of being in the playoffs.

For Oregon, besides Arizona, it seems like there isn’t a team in the nation that can beat the Ducks. Outside of Baylor and TCU, the Ducks have the nation’s highest-scoring offenses. Led by Mariota, the Heisman favorite, Oregon is dangerous in both the running game and the passing game. Despite their offense’s success this year, the Ducks will face their toughest matchup in Florida State.

Where this game will be won is in the trenches for this Florida State team. The defensive line combination of Eddie Goldman and Mario Edwards Jr. will need to wreak havoc for the Seminoles. If the duo can stop Oregon’s rushing attack, it will make Mariota throw the football. On the outside, Florida State has a great cornerback tandem in Ronald Darby and P.J. Williams. Even if the Ducks score at will, the Seminoles have the offense to put up points in a hurry. Not only is Winston amazing, but he was some of the best weapons in the nation in Rashad Greene and Nick O’Leary. With all of that being said, despite being the underdog, I have Florida State advancing to the BCS National Championship Game in this one. Even though they haven’t played that great, this Florida State team just knows how to win. I believe the Seminoles will continue their winning streak on January 1st and advance to play the winner of Alabama-Ohio State in the final.

Final Score: 41-37
