After just two years at the helm of Wisconsin, head coach Gary Andersen has taken the head-coaching position at Oregon State. The move comes as a huge surprise as Andersen's Badgers were 19-7 over the past two seasons. Wisconsin now begins looking for their next head coach and these are five candidates who could get the job done.

Toledo's head football coach has put people on notice the last couple years by making his team very competitive. At just 35 years old, he's a potential future star in the sport. Now, will Wisconsin want to be the school to test just how good he can be?

It would take a lot to lure Smart away from Alabama, where he's a defensive guru, but it could happen. Unless he thinks Saban is leaving Alabama soon, he could go to Wisconsin to prove he can be a successful head coach at a power conference school.

The former Wisconsin offensive coordinator and current Pittsburgh head coach makes a lot of sense for the job. He's familiar with the program and has enjoyed moderate success at a school in a power conference. He has a lot to prove, but as a former coach, Wisconsin may want to take a chance on him.

Now this would be wild. First of all, Pelini would be jumping right to a conference foe after being fired at Nebraska. It would also ensure that the head coaches at Nebraska, Wisconsin and Oregon State all swapped jobs. As cool as that would be, Pelini could also re-establish himself as a top head coach by leading the Badgers.

Herman isn't the sexiest name on this list, but rarely is the sexiest name the right choice in a coaching search. Herman is the offensive coordinator at Ohio State and has worked miracles with multiple quarterbacks. Just this year, he's helped make sure the Buckeyes get into the College Football Playoff with a third-string quarterback. He could be a superstar if given the chance to be a head coach.
