The Oregon Ducks have proven over these past few years that speed kills, but they ultimately did not have enough defense to defeat the Ohio State Buckeyes in this season's final game. Both teams were fortunate enough to be involved in NCAA football's first ever playoff system, however, we all know that quality recruiting is required to remain an elite team. Here are five 2016 prospects who would help the Ducks stay on top of the Pac-12.

Anytime you can add a player of Jared Mayden's quality to your class, then you have to do it. He has interest in the Ducks, however, the four-star CB also unofficially visited Urban Meyer's Ohio State Buckeyes in November. We'll have to see if Oregon's National Title loss makes any difference.

This tight end out of Summit (Bend, Ore.) may not be rated more than three stars according to most outlets, but Cameron McCormic is the type of recruit that helps a program have prolonged success. His 6-foot-5, 230-pound frame would help the Ducks immensely with their run blocking.

3. Shurod Thompson- S

It is rare that you see a safety with Shurod Thompson's speed. He is also considering the UCLA Bruins, but wouldn't you rather have a chance to play on the national stage more often? Thompson does things on the defensive side that make your jaw drop.

Carter Coughlin's size (6-foot-3, 200 pounds) is not ideal at OLB, but he plays much larger than his measurements. This four-star recruit out of Eden Prairie (Eden Prairie, Minn.) would be a huge get for Oregon, but he is more likely to stay in the Midwest. Expect him to be a Minnesota Gopher.

Another West Coast talent who could give the Ducks depth is Bryson Young. He will probably join the USC Trojans, but Oregon making it to the College Football Playoff National Championship Game might have pushed the needle a little bit. The DE out of Buchanan (Clovis, Calif.) would be a major signing for any program.
