5 Recruits Ole Miss Football Still Hopes To Sign

Since landing at Ole Miss, Hugh Freeze has proven to be one of the nation’s best recruiters. Still, as National Signing Day is upon us, the Rebels are treading water with a number of top recruits. Here are the top five crunch-time targets for Ole Miss.

5. Drew Richmond (Offensive Tackle, Memphis, TN)

Third-ranked offensive tackle Drew Richmond just withdrew his commitment from Ole Miss and appears headed to Knoxville and the Tennessee Volunteers. Hugh Freeze and his staff are certainly working feverishly to get Richmond back, as offensive line depth is a huge need for the Rebels.

4. Van Jefferson (Wide Receiver, Brentwood, TN)

Van Jefferson is verbally committed to Ole Miss, but he recently took a visit to Michigan and apparently enjoyed it. If Jefferson remains committed to the Rebels, it will be another big win for Hugh Freeze, who is a master at recruiting wide receivers.

Another big-time receiver prospect, DaMarkus Lodge is taking the recruiting game down to the wire. It’s between Ole Miss and Texas A&M at this point, and with SEC West divisional implications on the line, expect one school to be very happy and the other to be very disappointed.

2. CeCe Jefferson (Defensive End, Glen Saint Mary, FL)

It’s down to Florida, Ole Miss, Alabama and Auburn for the five-star defensive end. Jefferson tweeted out a graphic sent to him by the Rebels of an ESPN the Magazine cover with him and Katy Perry, so it appears that Ole Miss is pulling out all the stops to land him.

1. Leo Lewis (Linebacker, Brookhaven, MS)

Losing in-state prospect Leo Lewis would be a huge blow for the Rebels. He recently decommitted from Ole Miss after being committed to the Rebels since September, and appears to be headed to division rival LSU. Getting the No. 1 inside linebacker recruit to come back into the fold would be huge for a defense that just lost a number of starters.
