The Michigan State Spartans had a solid 2014 season, but their most impressive victory of the regular season came against Nebraska. The Spartans can take solace in knowing that their only losses were to the National Championship Game participants Oregon and Ohio State. The Spartans will look to get over the hump in 2015, and here are five must-watch games this season.

In the second year of the James Franklin era, the Penn State Nittany Lions will be even better in 2015 than they were in 2014. The Nittany Lions have an explosive offense led by a first-round caliber quarterback in Christian Hackenberg. In a rivalry game like this one, Penn State can give the Spartans a good game in the regular season finale.

As mentioned earlier, Michigan State's best win was against Nebraska, but it almost was an epic collapse. The Spartans led Nebraska 27-3 after three quarters, but gave up 19 fourth-quarter points, winning by only five. Despite not having Randy Gregory and Ameer Abdullah, the Cornhuskers have enough players to contend with the Spartans, and have new leadership this season with Mike Riley as coach.

Michigan State suffered an embarrassing home defeat to the Buckeyes, giving up 49 points in a bitter loss. The Buckeyes will be just as explosive on offense regardless of who starts at quarterback, so the Spartans' defense has to be ready or another rout is in order.

Michigan State's season will be defined by their performance against the Oregon Ducks in East Lansing. If the Spartans lose another game early on, their chances at making the College Football Playoff will be slim-to-none.
