Frank Beamer is under pressure heading into 2015 to get the Virginia Tech Hokies back to the elite ranks of college football. While things look to be squared away on the defensive side of the ball, as they have been the last several years, the issue remains on the struggles of the offense and one player in particular; quarterback Michael Brewer.

Brewer came to Virginia Tech after losing his starting job with the Texas Tech Red Raiders and stepped into the starting lineup last fall. He struggled to consistently make good decisions with the football, however, throwing 15 interceptions and getting sacked 32 times while completing 59.1 percent of his throws for 2,692 yards and 18 touchdowns.

For the Hokies to make a serious run at the ACC title in 2015, their offense has to start pulling their weight and that starts with Brewer and the Tech offensive line. If Brewer can get better protection this season and improves his decision making, the depth of talent that the Hokies have at skill positions could help spark the offense and finally get it on track.

2015 will be a major crossroads for the Virginia Tech program as patience wears thin regarding the struggling offense. Offensive coordinator Scott Loeffler recognizes the need for answers on the offensive side of the ball and has said that his unit has “no excuses” not to come together this fall. Everyone recognizes the urgency and the key to getting this offense on track rests with Brewer under center.

With a perennial top-10 defense on one side of the ball, Virginia Tech has been hamstrung by their ineptitude on offense in recent years. Can Michael Brewer help the Hokies break through in 2015?
