The Cincinnati Bearcats ended last season on a down note with a 33-17 loss to Virginia Tech. Despite the sour ending the Bearcats enter the season as a promising team. Here are 5 predictions for the Bearcats' 2015 season.

5. Defense will improve

The Bearcats' defense struggled to contain opponents, allowing 27.2 points per game. They brought in good recruiting class that could help address their issues defensively. While they won't be a top 20 defense, they will be far better than a defense that ranked 69th overall in points allowed per game.

The Bearcats were blown out 55-34 by the Miami (FL) Hurricanes in Miami. This will not be the case this season when they face each other in Cincinnati. The Bearcats defense will be better and Gunner Kiel will propel Cincinnati to a lower-scoring victory over the 'Canes this season.

3. Mekale McKay will have 1,000-plus yards receiving

McKay had an outstanding season last year, hauling in 44 catches for 725 yards and 8 touchdowns. His stats should see a raise now that their former star rusher, Ralph David Abernathy IV transferred to Tennessee. The Bearcats will most likely be relying on their passing more, so the idea of McKay eclipsing the 1,000 yards mark isn't out of the realm of possibility. In fact, don't be surprised if he eclipses that mark this season.

2. Gunner Kiel will throw for 4,000-plus yards and 40 touchdowns

Kiel was the source of the Bearcats' aerial attack which ranked 13th in the nation, averaging 303.6 yards per game. He would throw for 3,254 yards and 31 touchdowns on the season. Expect his numbers to go up as they rely on their aerial attack more.

With the addition of Navy to the American conference, the conference is able to host its own conference championship game. The Bearcats are the favorite to win the inaugural championship game. Kiel and the offense will propel the Bearcats to a first-ever conference title.
