It is safe to say the 2015 Michigan Wolverines will be the least talented unit during Jim Harbaugh’s tenure. That’s not a knock on this team, it has more to do with my faith that Harbaugh will consistently bring in and mold top talent in returning the Wolverines to prominence. That being said, fans of Michigan football also have plenty to look forward to this season. Here are 5 reasons Michigan fans should be excited about the 2015 season.

Michigan defensive end Taco Charlton is a monster. He is 6-foot-6 and 275 pounds with an enormous wingspan. Charlton showed glimpses of top-level potential during his first two seasons, but hasn’t been the dominant force Wolverines fans have expected. In rotational duties, Charlton amassed just 19 tackles and three-and-a-half sacks in 2014. With Harbaugh and defensive coordinator D.J. Durkin working him, expect Charlton to double those stats.

The linebacker unit best on the entire Michigan roster. With five starting-caliber players, the Wolverines are loaded and should field a dominant group. Featuring James Ross, Joe Bolden and Desmond Morgan, the Wolverines have one of the better corps in the country. The talent doesn’t stop with the starting unit, as the Wolverines also have quality depth with Ben Gedeon and Royce Jenkins-Stone pushing the starters for playing time.

There’s no doubt Harbaugh will follow his pattern of success as a head coach and implement a power running attack at Michigan. Harbaugh hired former Wolverines star Tyrone Wheatley to coach the running backs. Derrick Green, De’Veon Smith, Drake Johnson and USC transfer, Ty Isaac are all proven and capable. The competition should bring out the best running game since Mike Hart was toting the rock.

From the moment Jabrill Peppers committed to wear the maize and blue, Michigan fans have been eagerly awaiting to see what he would bring to the field. After getting injured in September, Peppers used a medical redshirt for the 2014 season. Harbaugh has moved Peppers to safety to take advantage of the best athlete on his roster, and I expect Peppers to move around and make a ton of plays in 2015.

The hiring of Jim Harbaugh as head coach immediately brought credibility and excitement back to Ann Arbor. Harbaugh is the type of no-nonsense coach the Wolverines need, and his style and determination will once again return the Big Blue to relevance. The coaching staff hired by Harbaugh is second to none and will accelerate the development process. To put it short, it won’t be long before The Big House is rocking!
