The Florida State Seminoles ushered in the Everett Golson era with style in Week 1 cruising to a 59-16 win over the Texas State Bobcats. They look to keep the ride going in Week 2 with another soft non-conference tilt against the South Florida Bulls, also winners last week. The goal for the Noles is to get through the game healthy and continue to build confidence and momentum heading into their conference schedule.

While Golson got the majority of the publicity in Week 1 after throwing for 302 yards and four touchdowns, the stars of the FSU offense appear to be running backs Dalvin Cook and Mario Pender. Last week, they allowed Jimbo Fisher to call running plays on 23 of the first 32 plays from scrimmage for FSU and combined for 248 yards while averaging 7.5 yards per carry against the Bobcats. Expect a similar gameplan this week from Fisher to allow Golson time to get comfortable and continue to grow comfortable under center for the Noles.

On the other side, South Florida is going to be playing the role of (heavy) underdog and looking for dual-threat quarterback Quinton Flowers to provide a spark. Last week, the Bulls demolished Florida A&M 51-3 with their new up-tempo attack, running up 556 yards of total offense in the game. Flowers accounted for 204 yards on the night with three touchdowns. He’s a confident QB, even after just three starts under his belt, but the Seminoles defense will pose a much more daunting challenge than the Rattlers.

With the talent that Florida State has on both sides of the ball, the question isn’t whether or not they will win this game, it’s whether or not they’ll win by enough to cover the four touchdown spread.

Prediction: Florida State 56, South Florida 13
