Location: Notre Dame Stadium, Notre Dame, IN

Line: Georgia Tech (-2)

The No. 15 Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets (2-0) take their vaunted triple-option offensive attack on the road to take on the No. 9 Notre Dame Fighting Irish (2-0) in a matchup of top-25 teams with their sights set on a berth in the College Football Playoff this postseason.

Georgia Tech has hit the ground running (literally) this season with their option offense playing at a high level out of the gate. In two games, the Yellow Jackets has averaged 64 points per game and 562 yards of total offense, including 457.5 yards rushing. Quarterback Justin Thomas has been a perfect trigger-man for the GT offense, though he hasn’t had to shoulder much of it yet this season completing 10 of 13 pass attempts for 151 yards and 73 yards rushing on 13 attempts with five total touchdowns.

Notre Dame is coming off a last-second come-from-behind victory where the Irish had to rally past the Virginia Cavaliers after losing starting quarterback Malik Zaire to a season-ending ankle injury. DeShone Kizer stepped in admirably, completing 8 of 12 for 92 yards and two touchdowns, including the 39-yard touchdown pass with just 12 seconds to play. Now, Kizer has to show he can handle stepping up as a leader throughout the week as the team prepares for their biggest challenge of the season.

The Yellow Jackets can present unique challenges to a defense because of their unorthodox offensive style. Will the Irish defense, allowing just 93.5 yards rushing per game so far this season, be enough to contain the Tech triple-option and keep Notre Dame on track for the CFP this offseason?

Prediction: Georgia Tech 24, Notre Dame 20
