Line: Oklahoma State (-3)

The No. 24 Oklahoma State Cowboys take their 3-0 record on the road to Austin TX Saturday night in its first Big 12 matchup of the season. The Cowboys started the season with two sloppy offensive performances in wins over Central Michigan and Central Arkansas.

Oklahoma State finally got it going last week in a victory over UT San Antonio, as the Cowboys put up 69 points, and the defense forced seven turnovers. Through three games of the season, quarterback Mason Rudolph has thrown for 947 yards, 5 touchdowns, and has one rushing touchdown. However, Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium is a difficult environment for a young sophomore to walk into.

The Texas Longhorns (1-2) are coming off a 44-45 heartbreaking loss to the California Golden Bears. After being down by 21 points in the fourth quarter, Texas scored three unanswered touchdowns before place kicker Nick Rose missed an extra point to tie the contest with just over one minute left in the game. The Texas defense, supposedly the strength of this Longhorns team, has given up an average of 37 points per game through three games, and the offense has looked sloppy and inconsistent.

Although the Longhorns lost on Saturday, the offense finally found some confidence in redshirt quarterback Jerrod Heard, igniting the crowd with the 45-yard touchdown run to potentially tie the game last week. After a 38-3 loss to Notre Dame in Week 1, the Longhorns look desperate to get a victory. Head Coach Charlie Strong is officially on the hot seat as Texas Nation is starting to lose faith in him.

Texas will come out to fight on Saturday. With No. 3 TCU, No. 15 Oklahoma, and Kansas State as the next three games on the schedule, this Saturday is a must-win for Charlie Strong and the Longhorns. Expect the Longhorns to play hard from start to finish.

Unfortunately for Texas, the Cowboys are more polished, more consistent and more efficient at this point. In the end, Oklahoma State looks to close out September with an undefeated record.

Prediction: Oklahoma State 38, Texas 31.
