TV Schedule: Saturday, October 3, 3:30 p.m. ET on ABC/ESPN2

Location: AT&T Stadium, Arlington, Texas

Line: Baylor (-17)

The Baylor Bears (3-0) and the Texas Tech Red Raiders (3-1) have had two very different seasons representing the Big 12. Baylor has rolled through three cupcakes all while average over 700 yard of total offense. Texas Tech traveled to and beat Arkansas (1-3) amidst chirping between head coaches Kliff Kingsbury and Bret Bielema.

Last week’s loss to the TCU Horned Frogs (4-0) was heartbreaking for the Red Raiders. Now they will look to rebound against Baylor in a rematch of last year’s classic. Despite coming as close as they did to an upset against TCU, Tech will go into AT&T Stadium as a huge underdog.

Both teams may be dominating on offense, but Tech has been struggling on the defensive end as usual. The Red Raiders gave up 750 yards of offense last week to TCU. If they don’t score 50 points on Saturday, they have no chance. In last year’s game, Texas Tech QB Patrick Mahomes set the Big 12 freshman record with 598 passing yards. After Bryce Petty left the game in the first quarter with a concussion, Baylor nearly lost.

They almost blew a 25-point lead, and Baylor hasn’t forgotten that. The Bears also haven’t forgotten about how that 4-7 Tech team took them all the way down to the wire on a failed two-point conversion attempt. They will be on their guard this year against Mahomes and the spread. Speaking of QBs, Baylor replaced Petty with a pretty good one in Seth Russell, who is leading Division I with 12.4 yards per attempt. 15 of his 80 passes have gone for touchdowns.

Saturday’s game will end one of two ways. Either Baylor will blows out Tech by three or more touchdowns, or it will go down to the final possession just like last year. Hopefully, it’s the latter. Wishful thinking? Probably.

Prediction: Baylor 52, Texas Tech 28
