TV Schedule: Saturday, October 10, 12:00 p.m. ET, SEC Network

Stadium: Vaught-Hemingway Stadium, Oxford, Ms.

Line: Ole Miss (-42)

It had been a pretty great year for Hugh Freeze and the Rebels until last week’s loss in the Swamp. They started the season 4-0 and were an early pick for the College Football Playoff. But things fell apart last week against Florida when a slow start doomed Ole Miss to a 38-10 loss against the then No. 25 Gators.

But it’s not the end of the road for the Rebels. Who can forget their epic Week 3 win at Alabama (43-37), or the fact that they were averaging 54.75 points per game in the first four weeks of the season?

While the Rebels shouldn’t keep the loss to a rising Florida team with them, they have two easy weeks coming up before their next SEC matchup and can gain back some of their momentum. After Saturday’s matchup against New Mexico State, they play the Memphis Tigers before facing off against Texas A&M on October 24.

But the Rebels will have to get through the next two weeks first. Saturday’s matchup shouldn’t be a problem for Ole Miss with QB Chad Kelly passing for 11 TDs and only four interceptions this season. Since WR Laquon Treadwell has fully recovered from a horrendous injury suffered in last season’s game against Auburn (that an Auburn newspaper printed a picture of on their front page — seriously), he has been racking up the yards (74.8 per game).

The Rebels will survive even without LB C.J. Johnson, who underwent surgery for a torn meniscus on Tuesday. Johnson is expected to be out 4-6 weeks if all goes well and could be back in time for the Egg Bowl on November 28.

New Mexico State is 0-4 and has already faced another SEC team this season (Florida). Although this is the first meeting for Ole Miss and New Mexico State, the Aggies play in the Sun Belt Conference that Freeze is extremely familiar with. While the Aggies were not a part of the Sun Belt when Freeze coached at Arkansas State, he still knows what to expect from a team that is 4-24 under head coach Doug Martin and allows 45.80 points per game.

Prediction: Ole Miss 72, New Mexico State 14
