UCLA punter Adam Searl was arrested on October 8 and booked on three counts of rape. The charges stem from an incident that occurred back in October 2014 at a party off-campus in Westwood, CA.

Searl allegedly met the accuser at the party, accompanied her to a nearby house where the woman said she fell asleep, but awoke to Searl raping her.

After an “exhaustive investigation,” the woman was able to identify Searl to police as her attacker and he was arrested without issue, then later released on $300,000 bond.

Searl has been suspended from the UCLA football team pending the investigation, according to head coach Jim Mora Jr.

These incidents that happen on college campuses are always extremely sensitive. With the amount of alcohol and sex that occur on a college campus, it’s always dangerous to mix the two. There are too many what ifs that could happen to justify having a drunken hookup at 18 or 20 years old. Searl had his whole life ahead of him and whether he’s guilty of the charges or not, his life will never be the same.
