College Football Power Rankings: Week 7

College Football Power Rankings: Week 7 Credit: Rick Osentoski-USA TODAY Sports
If we learned anything from this week, it is this: Any team in college football is beatable, especially this season.

After all, the Texas Longhorns took down the Oklahoma Sooners (who predicted that one?) and the TCU Horned Frogs almost lost to the Kansas State Wildcats. The USC Trojans were also upset — just in case you need another example.

Great games filled this fall weekend, and the rankings, as usual, received a makeover as a result.

With a win against Utah, California could have made a solid case for being the best team in the Pac-12. Too bad that one didn't happen.

When the regular season comes to a conclusion, this mid-major very well could be undefeated. If so, good luck with that one, College Football Playoff committee.

Tough, tough, tough loss for the Sooners. Luckily, they can still bounce back and make a case for the playoff, but it is going to be a super tough road from here.

The UCLA Bruins might have had this week off, but next up is Stanford. Bragging rights and so many other things will be on the line in that showdown.

I still think Notre Dame needs a miracle to make the playoff, but beating USC next would certainly help. The only problem is ... well, beating USC.

If the Ole Miss Rebels plan on making the playoff, they can do one simple thing — win out. If they do that one simple thing, they will make the playoff. No questions asked.

Is there a better team than Michigan right now?

Answer: No.

The Wolverines will play the Michigan State Spartans next, and the odds of them winning that game are looking pretty solid.

It's really crazy to say this, but here it goes: The Florida Gators might be the best team in the SEC. Not just the SEC East — which they are — but the entire SEC.

The Texas A&M Aggies are undefeated and ranked in the top 25. Things will get that much better for them if they can knock off the Alabama Crimson Tide next week.

Is it next week yet?

7. Utah Utes

Here's something you don't say every year (more like any year except for this year): The Utah Utes are the cream of the crop in the Pac-12. See, kids, miracles really do happen.

Alabama, like every other one-loss team, has to win out to make the playoff. And the Crimson Tide have undefeated Texas A&M next. And this is why I love college football.

You know what next week is? Florida vs. LSU. Both teams are undefeated. Let me repeat all of that. The Gators and Tigers play each other next week and they both have perfect records.

College football is going to be — wait for it — legendary next weekend.

TCU does not crack under pressure. Neither does that Trevone Boykin guy.

I will say this, though: The Horned Frogs' defense has to get better.

The Ohio State Buckeyes are a very fun team to watch on the offensive side of the ball when these four players are rolling: Cardale Jones, Ezekiel Elliott, Braxton Miller and J.T. Barrett.
