There's about one month left in the college football season and several teams separated themselves this week. These teams solidified or improved their rankings, or set themselves apart in their conference. They all have a few more hurdles to clear but they took big steps to reaching their goals. Utah, Florida and Houston just missed the cut. Here are the most significant wins of the week.

The Tar Heels crushed Duke 66-31 and all but officially locked up the ACC Coastal division title. At 8-1, UNC has now won eight straight games and are one of the hottest, least talked about teams in the country. QB Marquise Williams threw for 494 yards and four TDs on the day. A date with Clemson next month in the ACC title game is just about guaranteed now.

Navy dispatched No. 13 Memphis handily on the road with a score of 45-20. The win puts Navy at a tie with Houston for first in the AAC West. The win also springboards Navy into the Group of Five discussion for a berth in a New Years Six bowl game. They should be ranked this week in the College Football Playoff Rankings. Lookout for the Midshipmen.

In perhaps the most shocking game of the day, Oklahoma State took care of TCU 49-29. The win springs the Cowboys into the playoff conversation at 9-0. The win could be short lived as in their final few games they still have to play Baylor and Oklahoma, but they both are home games. The Cowboys made a statement that they now must be considered legit.

The Tigers now are in the drivers seat for a playoff spot, as long as they take care of their business the rest of the way. The Tigers may be one of the better teams in the country and they deserve to be respected. It's been a special year for Clemson.

They should move up to No. 2 in the playoff rankings this week. Derrick Henry also could have leaped up the Heisman lists as well. The Tide is rollin' again.
