TV Schedule: Saturday, November 14, 4:00 p.m. ET, SECN

Stadium: Vanderbilt Stadium, Nashville, Tenn.

Line: VAN (-3)

Last week, Vanderbilt almost pulled off a huge upset over Florida. The Commodores forced four turnovers and held the Gators to only 258 yards. If that wasn’t embarrassing enough for Florida, Vanderbilt’s lone touchdown came at the hands of Ralph Webb, a Gainesville native.

As good as the Commodores were playing, it wasn’t enough to stop Florida from a late field goal to take the lead and the win and the SEC East. But hopefully Vandy can carry some of that momentum into this week’s matchup with Kentucky at home.

Vanderbilt is losing the all-time series 41-42 and lost last year’s meeting 17-7. Since then, the Commodores have hired a new offensive coordinator in Andy Ludwig and have a notable win against Missouri this season. Wins against Austin Peay and Middle Tennessee round out Vandy’s 3-6 record.

Kentucky hasn’t won in Nashville since 2009 and is 1-3 in the last four years against Vanderbilt. This season, the Wildcats are 4-5 after wins against Louisiana-Lafayette, South Carolina, Eastern Kentucky and a ranked Missouri. However, Kentucky went 0-4 in their last four games and face a Vanderbilt team on an upswing.

Junior QB Patrick Towles has racked up 2,010 passing yards this season along with nine TDs but has thrown 12 interceptions already. Towles faces a Vanderbilt defense that was able to stop Florida and QB Treon Harris from being as productive as the Gator offense normally is and has only been allowing 316.2 yards per game.

This won’t be the most exciting SEC matchup this weekend and won’t change anything in the road to the SEC Championship since Florida has already clinched the East spot, but it should be a pretty close game between two mediocre teams.

Prediction: Kentucky 17, Vanderbilt 14
