At one point in the season — well, very early in the season — the California Golden Bears appeared to be Pac-12 title contenders. Unfortunately for them, they have now dropped four games to conference foes, and they will likely drop a fifth one this weekend.
At one point in the season, the Stanford Cardinal were College Football Playoff contenders. You would have to go all the way back to last week for that one … so not far at all.
Stanford and Cal will meet up in Week 12 and although the Cardinal were so close to making the playoff (or at least making a great case for the playoff), they still have quite a bit to play for.

The Cardinal just need to take care of business against the Golden Bears and they will be playing in the Pac-12 championship game. Of course, Stanford has to close out the regular season against the Notre Dame Fighting Irish before it even starts thinking about that title game.
As for Cal, it is likely just looking to end the season on a good note. Even if it does drop this game and the one after against the Arizona State Sun Devils, it already made it to six wins. Translation: The Golden Bears are bowl eligible.
Jared Goff and Kevin Hogan will be going up against each other in this Pac-12 matchup, and that should have fans very excited. After all, Goff vs. Hogan is quite the QB battle.
PREDICTION: Golden Bears 28, Cardinal 35
