Stadium: Kinnick Stadium

Line: Iowa (-22)

‘Tis the season for College Football Playoff contenders to make their case for the … well, College Football Playoff. The Iowa Hawkeyes — although many people did not predict it at the start of the season — are a serious contender entering Week 12.

They have yet to lose a game and should have no problem “surviving and advancing” this weekend against the Purdue Boilermakers.

Purdue is 2-8 overall and 1-5 against Big Ten teams. Purdue will also be traveling on the road to take on Iowa and brings a two-game losing streak with it.

After this contest, which shouldn’t end too well for the Boilermakers, they will take on the Indiana Hoosiers to close out the year. Since Purdue only has two wins with two games remaining, it has no chance at a bowl game.

Meanwhile, the Hawkeyes will close out the regular season against the same Nebraska Cornhuskers team that handed the Michigan State Spartans their first loss. Unless an absolute miracle happens, Iowa will be partaking in the Big 10 championship.

How the Hawkeyes can make the playoff: Win the rest of their games. If they come up short in just one, those playoff hopes will become a distant memory.

Although Iowa’s last two games can be considered “trap” games, this team is not going to slip up. In fact, it will thrive in Week 12.

PREDICTION: Boilermakers 0, Hawkeyes 31
