TV Schedule: Friday, Nov. 27, 7:30 p.m. ET, ESPN

Stadium: Amon G. Carter Stadium

Line: TCU (-1.5)

This was supposed to be one of the most crucial matchups of the season. Both teams were supposed to enter this clash undefeated. Both teams were supposed to have a shot at the College Football Playoff.

Now, it is just the Baylor Bears who have a slim shot at making the playoff. The TCU Horned Frogs have no chance after dropping their second game of the season. Blame it on injuries, a failed two-point conversion or whatever you would like, but the Horned Frogs are not making the playoff this year.

Baylor’s lone loss came against the Oklahoma Sooners, who can basically clinch a spot in the playoff this weekend against the Oklahoma State Cowboys — well, that is at least the hope. The Bears did rebound from that loss by knocking off — you guessed it — Oklahoma State.

Meanwhile, TCU has dropped games against Oklahoma State and Oklahoma — it’s a vicious cycle.

If Trevone Boykin is good to go for this game, then TCU’s chances go way up. He is a top player in college football, after all. Not to mention, the Horned Frogs do get this showdown at home. Even if Boykin does play, here are two reasons why Baylor fans should be optimistic: (1) The Bears beat Oklahoma State on the road. (2) They did so without Seth Russell, of course.

The crazy implications aren’t there, but hopefully the actual play won’t let us down.

PREDICTION: Bears 42, Horned Frogs 49
