Stadium: TDECU Stadium

Line: Houston (-6)

Folks, conference championship week is here.

That means a few things: The College Football Playoff will be set soon, bowl games will start raining down on us in a hurry and the best matchups of the season are about to take place. One of those matchups will take place on Saturday when the Temple Owls take on the Houston Cougars in the AAC conference championship game.

Both teams enter this contest ranked and both teams have their minds set on the New Year’s Six.

Temple has been challenged quite a bit this season as it has taken on the Penn State Nittany Lions (won that contest) and Notre Dame Fighting Irish (lost by four). Not to mention, AAC teams have been in and out of the top 25 all season long.

The Cougars haven’t been tested as much — well, outside of the AAC, that is — as they took on teams like the Louisville Cardinals and Vanderbilt Commodores (and they rocked both of those teams … sort of).

In AAC play, the Owls’ best win came against Memphis, while Houston took down Memphis and Navy.

Two players who will garner a lot of attention: Houston’s Greg Ward Jr. and Temple’s Jahad Thomas.

As is the case with many conference championships, either team is very capable of becoming, well, the conference champion. If I have to pick a winner for this clash, I am going with the Cougars.

PREDICTION: Owls 21, Cougars 28
