There are plenty of what ifs entering the Alamo Bowl. You know, like what if the TCU Horned Frogs were healthy down the stretch. What if the Oregon Ducks started off the season like they ended it.

TCU, when healthy, is nearly unstoppable on the offensive side of the ball. QB Trevone Boykin and WR Josh Doctson are as lethal as they come, of course, when healthy. Here’s to both players being healthy for this clash.

If things go according to plan, both teams are going to be scoring at will, which means this battle could be the best one of the bowl season. Oregon is averaging 43.2 points per game and allowing 36.8 PPG. TCU is putting up 41.7 PPG and giving up 26.1 PPG. The scoreboard operator is surely going to be busy in this one.

The Ducks started off the season with a 3-3 record. Those losses came against the Michigan State Spartans, Utah Utes and Washington State Cougars. Since the last loss against the Cougars, Oregon has rattled off six straight wins. To put it simple, the Ducks have been red-hot, and QB Vernon Adams Jr. has looked like a genius. Side note: Folks can’t forget about RB Royce Freeman.

The Horned Frogs’ story is a little different. They won the first eight games of 2015 and have gone 2-2 since. Blame it on the injuries, the competition getting tougher or whatever you would like, but TCU’s ending has been a disappointing one. Its losses have come against the Oklahoma Sooners and Oklahoma State Cowboys.

As for notable wins, Oregon’s biggest one came against the Stanford Cardinal and TCU’s came against the Baylor Bears.

This might not be the College Football Playoff, which both teams were expected to compete for entering the year, but it could still be the best game of the year. After all, if both offenses live up to the hype, this contest is going to provide plenty of fireworks (via a high-scoring affair).

PREDICTION: Ducks 49, Horned Frogs 52
