College Bowl Game Picks, Predictions

Bowl season is among us — well, starting this weekend, that is. Thanks to bowl games being so evenly matched (or that is at least the idea), we are in store for some great football. Before upsets start flooding the scene (kind of like what happened on a weekly basis during the regular season), let's embark on the journey that is predicting every single bowl game.

New Mexico Bowl: Arizona vs. New Mexico

The Lobos should feel right at home in this bowl game … literally. That said, Arizona had the talent to compete for a Pac-12 title in 2015. Unfortunately, injuries got in the way of that one.

Nonetheless, Arizona is going to roll to a bowl victory.

Prediction: Arizona 31, New Mexico 21

Las Vegas Bowl: BYU vs. Utah

If you are going to bowl, you might as well do some bowling in Vegas. Isn't that right, BYU and Utah?

BYU entered the season with major hype and Utah was ranked super high early on in 2015. Somehow, these two teams managed to cross paths in the postseason. As fans, we should feel very luck for that one.

Prediction: BYU 30, Utah 33

Cure Bowl: San Jose State vs. Georgia State

San Jose State is 5-7 and Georgia State is 6-6. Bad records aside, someone has to win this contest, so it’s time to get out your favorite coin to do some flipping (so many bowl games could literally be decided like that, much like the NCAA tournament).

New Orleans Bowl: Arkansas State vs. Louisiana Tech

As is the case with most bowl games, the line on this battle is very, very close. Ready to break out that coin again?

The Red Wolves are riding an eight-game winning streak into bowl season, and we are not about to fight the streak.

Miami Beach Bowl: Western Kentucky vs. South Florida

Both of these squads enter this game with some steam (aka they are on winning streaks). Western Kentucky might be lethal and enters with the better record, but the AAC was legit in 2015. Win or lose, QB Brandon Doughty is definitely one to watch out for.

Idaho Potato Bowl: Akron vs. Utah State

Not a whole lot of fireworks are expected in this one — well, at least when it comes to lighting up the scoreboard. As for the winner, Utah State enters as the favorite despite being .500 right on the dot.

Temple and Toledo were two of the best mid-majors on the year, so this one ought to be fun — and the bragging rights for the winner should last quite some time.

Here's a fun fact: Northern Illinois only lost to Ohio State by seven points in 2015. That said, the Broncos have the line entering this clash. Let's go with some upset action, though. Big or small, the upsets are going to happen.

Both teams are stingy on the defensive side of the ball, which can only mean one thing: We should be in store for a low-scoring affair.

Minnesota snuck into a bowl game with a 5-7 record. It would likely be favored to knock off Central Michigan even if it had a worse record than that. At least one mid-major has to knock off a power conference team, right? Might as well make that one happen in this bowl fiasco.

Cal QB Jared Goff and Air Force’s option will surely have this contest oozing with entertainment. In terms of who comes out on top, it is really tough to go against a Goff-led team, especially when it is taking on Air Force.

This contest would be a lot more entertaining if Seth Russell was making the passes. Of course, if he didn’t go down to injury, Baylor could be playing in the playoff. Nonetheless, scoring should be the name of the game.

Florida State is a top team in college football, but so is Houston. The Cougars did only finish with one loss, and also finished off the season with Ws against Navy and Temple.

Orange Bowl: Oklahoma vs. Clemson

Oklahoma, if you can believe it, gets the line entering the Orange Bowl. Then again, the Sooners did finish off the season on fire.
