Three Big Ten Schools Named In 2017 Football Prospect Joshua Kaindoh's Top Four, Maryland Omitted

The Big Ten‘s elite recruiters are back at it and have been making some noise recently as one of the nation’s top prospects took to social media to tell the country who’s impressed him so. Joshua Kaindoh, a five-star defensive end from Bradenton, Fla. announced his top-four schools last night via Twitter and it included three Big Ten schools, though not the one that was thought to be the front-runner.

Maryland was previously thought to be the front-runner in the chase for Kaindoh, though after recent visits to other schools, he left them off his shortened list. That’s not to say they won’t make a future push for the IMG Academy prospect, but it appears head coach D.J. Durkin has a lot of work ahead.

Notre Dame is thought to be the current leader as Kaihdoh spent a couple of days in South Bend and attended their spring game. He took the trip with his head coach, Kevin Wright.

“He’s a very bright kid,” Wright said regarding Kaindoh. “He wants to study medicine when he gets to college. He’s a tremendous player but also a tremendous student. That’s one of the draws to Notre Dame.”

The Irish aren’t the only ones who can give Kaindoh a quality education, though. The Big Ten is known for its academic prestige, so it makes a lot of sense that he’s named multiple schools in the conference as finalists. Ohio State‘s Urban Meyer, Penn State‘s James Franklin and Michigan‘s Jim Harbaugh are also three of the nation’s top recruiters and continue to put together elite classes.

Kaindoh will play one final season with IMG and has nearly a year to make his decision. It’s still possible that a dark horse candidate will make their way to the top of his list, but as of now, the four schools named are leading the way.
