Florida State Football Ready To Reclaim Top Spot In ACC

By Geoffrey Knox

The 2015 football season ended with 10 wins for the Florida State Seminoles, but if you think that makes them happy, you’re wrong. There aren’t too many spots in the country where you can finish your season with 10 wins and be called a failure by everybody from your fans to the media, but with programs like this one, things are different.

Florida State will most likely enter the 2016 season in the top 10, and they should. Following a 10-2 regular season run, the Seminoles were embarrassed in their bowl game by the Houston Cougars. In hindsight, that’s not really a bad loss. Houston didn’t lose to a ranked opponent all season. Unfortunately for Seminole fans, the entire year would be a collection of unexpected turns, and the season many of us expected from them ended up being the one we actually saw from the Clemson Tigers.

Now in the blink of an eye, the Tigers have replaced the Seminoles as the class of the ACC. Their matchup every year is expected to be one for the ages, and next year figures to be no different. The winner of that game will probably end up in the ACC Championship game and win it. Other teams around the conference are improving, but the annual matchup between the Tigers and Seminoles has recently decided the conference championship and may continue to do so for a couple more years.

Whether you call that pressure or a higher standard, one thing’s certain — Florida State won’t mind. Dalvin Cook appears ready to go, and Oct. 29 will be circled on the calendar of quite a few college football fans.
