When Nebraska received their initial B1G 10 schedule, many people were questioning if the Huskers had what it takes to survive the rigors of B1G 10 football. Many saw games at Wisconsin, at Penn State, and at Michigan State as tough games, with the possibility of losing all three.
Nebraska was eager to prove themselves on the national stage when they rolled into Camp Randall Stadium on October 1st. “Jump Around” was not quite as enjoyable as Husker fans were hoping to be. Nebraska got stomped up and down the field.
Ohio State a week later wasn’t pretty. Braxton Miller and the Buckeyes came rolling in, and were rolling over the Huskers until Lavonte David’s forced and recovered fumble ignited a stagnant offense. The Huskers would complete the biggest comeback in school history.
Michigan State, coming off an emotional victory versus Wisconsin, was ready to take control of the Legends division, was ready to beat the new kid down the block. Nebraska would haven none of it, instead playing their most complete game of the year to beat the Spartans.
Northwestern proved that you cannot take anyone for granted, and came into Memorial Stadium and beat the Huskers. Nebraska’s control of the Legends Division was down gone.
Scandal erupted at Penn State, which took away from the main cause of the game. Tough to not be distracted the Huskers would hold on for victory in a 17-14 victory.
Now the Huskers have to travel to Ann Arbor. It’s arguably the toughest three road games of the year for anyone; at Wisconsin, at Penn State, at Michigan. It can arguably be the toughest back to backs, with Penn State and Michigan.
The Huskers are ready to continue to prove to the their B1G 10 brethren that they fit in this league. The Big House is not an easy place to win. The Huskers are ready to show that they can hang with the big boys of this league.
Nebraska had been the class of the Big 8, and though never consistently a winner in the Big XII, could usually be found near the top. Now the Huskers are out to prove that they are going to be at the top of the B1G 10 for years to come.
